Alburnett 30, North Linn 29The Lynx (0-1) led for most of the non-district matchup, but Alburnett (1-0) went up by one with a touchdown and 2-point conversion with five minutes remaining in the game. A Zach Hoyle tackle on the next series forced a North Linn fourth down and the ensuing fake field goal was stopped by Colon Martin. The Pirates' offense was led by Dylan Miller with two touchdown catches and a 90-yard kickoff return for a score.
Maquoketa Valley 28; Starmont 8Ryan Parmely had 18 carries for a game-high 190 yards and three touchdowns, including a 66-yard score, to lead Maquoketa Valley (1-0) over Starmont (0-1) in the season-opener for both teams at Delhi.Jobe Ellison caught a 40-yard touchdown pass to wrap up the scoring for the Wildcats.
Springville 35; Central Elkader 26Elias Nissen picked up 164 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 20 carries, while quarterback Sam Scriver threw for 99 yards a two touchdowns to lead Springville (1-0) to a season-opening win at home.Nathan Fitzgerald and Isaiah Hopp rushed for a combined 345 yards for Central Elkader (0-2).
Bellevue 21; Camache 6Cole Reeg ran for a game-high 245 yards and three touchdowns to lead Bellevue (1-0) to a season-opening win at home over Camanche (0-1).
East Buchanan 47; MFL Marnac 27Vinny Mossman ran for 99 yards and rushing touchdowns of 7, 17 and 35 yards to lead East Buchanan to a season-opening victory over MFL MarMac at Winthrop. Colton Stoddard added 106 yards and a 4-yard touchdown run for the Buccaneers while Jordan Schultz was 6-of-16 through the air for 121 yards. He also ran for two rushing touchdowns (1, 7).
HLV 76; Cedar Valley Christian 0Parker Cataldo and Dalton Kriegel ran for two touchdowns apiece for host HLV at Victor.[HTML2]
Clear Creek Amana 35; Independence 0
Clayton Ridge 40, Edgewood-Colesburg 0Kalen Backes ran for 117 yards and touchdowns of 1, 3 and 5 yards to lead Clayton Ridge to a Week 1 victory at Guttenberg. Kohle Helle was 5-of-9 for 140 yards through the air, finding Cory Preston three times for 104 yards, including TD grabs of 32 and 39 yards. Helle also ran for a 7-yard score. Clayton Ridge outgained Ed-Co, 397-96.
Western Dubuque 7, Dyersville Beckman 6Dan Beard's 2-yard run and Nick Kruse's PAT was all the Bobcats needed in this northeast Iowa battle.Mitch Steger scored in the third quarter for Beckman on a 19-yard run, but the kick failed.
Decorah 35, Waverly-Shell Rock 7Holt Johansen rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown and Josey Jewell scored twice, including on a 32-yard punt return as the Vikings rolled at home.Decorah had 288 rushing yards.
