You have heard of a Walkathon and Bikeathon, why not a Golfathon? Golfers raising pledges per hole and playing 100 holes of golf in one day, raising money for their favorite charity.
The GTAA (Golf Tournament Association of America) the association for the fundraising golf tournament industry has announced the first ever National Golfathon June 18, 2012 at golf courses around the country. Golfers will sacrifice their bodies representing their favorite charity and will contact their friends, neighbors and family members asking for pledges of 50 cents, $1, $2 & $5 per hole and then play 100 holes of golf in one day, raising thousands of dollars for charity.
Can it be done? Yes - The number of players is limited to 40 per course allowing golfers to finish 18 holes in 2 ½ hours – easily finishing 100 holes of golf in about 12 hours. Some golfers may play faster and finish more holes. The individual golfer who raises the most money in each market will receive a set of golf clubs.
