I get it.
You're heading to this beautiful golf course and you and your buddies are going to play 'the tips' today. Or in another scenario, you've played the white tees all your life but you don't hit it as far as you used to but doggone it I'm a man and I'm not moving up to those other tees and you flail away trying to reach greens you can't reach anymore and create more stress than fun.
I've gone through the 'playing from the tips' scenario and let me tell you, it seemed like a good idea at the time but when the round was over, I walked away having learned something — I don't have that much fun hitting 2- and 3-irons into par 4s all day long.
And at the end of the day, this game is about fun first.
So here are some guidelines to ensure you will be playing the length of course that will be more fun for you.
Driver distance vs. Recommended 18-hole yardages:
100 yds 2,100-2,300
150 3,500-3,700
175 4,400-4,600
200 5,200-5,400
225 5,800-6,000
250 6,200-6,400
275 6,700-6,900
300 You can handle it
Apply these recommendations to your next round and see how much more you can enjoy the game.
