Here are the finalists for this week's KCRG-TV9 Athlete of the Week.
Cedar Rapids Washington
Bowling
Quincy is a junior bowler for Warrior team. He's averaging 223 per game this year, and ranked sixth individually in the state. He has a high game this year of 266. The Warriors are currently 8-2 in regular season, with one match to go vs. Hempstead. Bruce has been bowling since he was four years old, and his parents were even married at May City Bowl. He bowls anchor for Baker games when it counts.
Jeremy Cline
Cedar Rapids Prairie
Bowling
Jeremy is a senior bowler for the Hawks. He's averaging 208 per game, and bowled a 300 last Friday. Cline is just the third Prairie bowler ever to bowl a 300 in competition, and one of seven kids throughout the state to bowl a perfect game this year.
He will bowl for Mt. Mercy next year. Prairie is 9-1 and ranked seventh in the state heading into state qualifying tourney.
Austin Massey
Dubuque Hempstead
Bowling
Austin is a senior bowler for the Mustangs. He's averaging 213 per game this year, and has a high game of 269. He finished 17th at state last year individually as a junior. Hempstead finished 10-1 during the regular season, and they are one of the top teams in state. The Mustangs lead the state as a team with a 3160 average which is just 1½ pins behind Ottumwa for tops in the entire state. His coach said Austin is incredibly solid, and always bowls as the anchor.
