HOW IT HAPPENED
Iowa scored on its first three possessions, beginning with LeShun Daniels' 2-yard run that put Iowa up 7-0 with 8:54 left in the first quarter.
The Hawkeyes then took advantage of a short field with a quick drive from the Purdue 49, capped by Daniels scoring from 13 yards out with 4:32 to go in the first.
C.J. Beathard then hit Matt VandeBerg, who got a couple nice blocks and found the corner of the end zone from seven yards out with 13:40 left in the 2nd. The extra point was blocked.

That score came after Purdue QB David Blough was hit by Jordan Lomax, fumbled and was knocked out of the game. Austin Appleby replaced him and completed his first 10 of 11 passes for 98 yards.
But after racing out to an early lead, the Hawkeyes slipped and let the Boilermakers back in it.
Purdue was able to flip field position by punting to the Iowa 1. After a Hawkeye three-and-out and drive that included a fourth-down conversion, Markell Jones punched it in from 1 yard out to put the Boilermakers on the board with 3:55 left in the half.
Following a Beathard fumble on the next possession, Purdue got inside the Iowa 5 and Paul Griggs kicked a 20-yard field goal to cut the lead to 10.

Iowa went three-and-out on its first possession of the second half and Purdue marched down the field again, getting within one score on Griggs' 22-yard kick.
The Hawkeyes' offense proceeded to wake up a bit, with the tight ends playing a large part.
Beathard's 35-yard pass to George Kittle put Iowa up 27-13.
