ESPN plans to broadcast Aplington-Parkersburg's Aug. 28 football opener to a nationwide audience. ABC affiliates in Iowa, including KCRG, may pick up the feed.
Longtime Aplington-Parkersburg coach Ed Thomas was shot and killed while leading a weight room session in June. ESPN had a crew in Parkersburg after the shooting.
The opponent for the Aug. 28 game is Dike-New Hartford.
Well-wishers arranged plastic cups that read 'Coach T' and a heart shape as bouquets of flowers and other memorials were arranged along a chain link fence surrounding a playing field near the building housing the scene of the shooting of Aplington-Parkersburg football coach Ed Thomas June 24 in Parkersburg.
