Duck Dynasty’s Robertson brothers a hit at Zach Johnson Foundation Classic
Jun. 27, 2016 9:12 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - Though Uncle Si and his tea glass were missing, and only one brother had a beard, Al and Willie Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame drew a following at the Zach Johnson Foundation Classic on Monday.
Willie Robertson, the reality TV star and CEO of Duck Commander, known for his antics with his brothers, father, and uncle, as well as their long, ZZ Top-esque beards, turned the family business into a multi-million dollar empire. Al Robertson works as a preacher and is known as the 'beardless brother.”
Between the gala silent auction on Sunday and the tournament on Monday, the Robertsons drew quite a crowd.
'It's been great, the people have been super nice and friendly,” Willie Robertson said. 'I met (Zach Johnson) at a golf tournament last year, so we haven't known each other that long, but he asked me to come.”
And come they did, as did fans of the show, clad in Duck Dynasty gear. Though neither brother would claim they were the best golfer - both agreed Jase, the second-oldest of the four was the best - Willie Robertson, said his game was on the rise.
Al Robertson said events like these allow fans of the show to interact with the brothers, and he came to the tournament because of his friendship with Johnson. Though he does not get recognized as often as his brothers, Al Roberston still signed autographs for fans.
'I tell people that a beardless Robertson is much more of a rare sighting than a bearded one. There's plenty of beards,” Al Robertson said.
The cause, the Robertsons agreed, drew them to the tournament as much as Johnson did.
'It's great helping a good guy like Zach,” Willie said. 'It speaks well for his reputation and him as a person, the people that he got to show up like what he's doing and like him as a person.”
