Drake men’s basketball coach Ray Giacoletti resigns
Ray Giacoletti resigned his position as Drake men's basketball coach on Tuesday. Assistant coach Jeff Rutter will take over for the rest of the season.
'We achieved in every aspect other than on the floor with wins and losses,” Giacoletti said. 'Now in year four, I think it is time for a new voice.”
Drake went 32-69 with Giacoletti, including a 1-7 start this season.
Rutter - who has been with the Bulldogs for 3 1/2 seasons - came to Drake after seven seasons at Iowa State.
The Bulldogs host Jackson State on Saturday, then take on No. 25 Iowa State in the Big Four Classic on Saturday, Dec. 17 at Wells Fargo Arena.
