Double hornet features highlight weekly races at Hawkeye Downs

CEDAR RAPIDS - Hawkeye Downs Speedway will hold its weekly points races Friday, starting at 7:30 p.m. Gates open at 6.

Below is a list of events slated for Friday's races. Among the features are two in the hornets division. Last week, the hornets were one of three features postponed due to rain. Late models will be made up June 29, while modifieds will run a make-up race July 6.

The Lil Racer Car Club, organized by Mitch Swinton, will present "Kids With Cancer: THEIR night at the Track." The special evening billed "Giving children one night they can forget they are sick" will allow children suffering from cancer to sign up for the club and receive snacks. Children will be able to participate in other events, which is expected to include face painting. A meet-and-greet with some of the select drivers after the race.
