De Silvestro won't take the track at Iowa Speedway

NEWTON - One week ago Simona De Silvestro pulled off the track 11 laps in the Milwaukee 225 at the The Milwaukee Mile. She sensed her condition wasn't well enough to race, suffering from the effects of a crash during previous day's practice.

De Silvestro didn't even get the chance to the track to participate in the events of the IZOD IndyCar Series Iowa Corn Indy 250 at the Iowa Speedway. Medical officials did not clear her after she exhibited signs of post-concussion symptoms.

The 22-year-old Swiss driver for HVM Racing did not show signs of a concussion Sunday before the race in Milwaukee. She passed a medical test Wednesday, but failed a follow-up test Friday at the Iowa Speedway.

De Silvestro was 18th in the points standings before this weekend's race. She finished 21st in last year's race, completinh 128 of the 250 laps.
