Dan McCarney, Jamaal Tinsley among 8 Iowa State Hall of Fame inductees

AMES — Former football coach Dan McCarney and basketball standout Jamaal Tinsley are among eight former Iowa State athletes who will be inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in the fall.
The induction ceremony will take place Sept. 23 and the group will be honored at the Sept. 24 football game vs. San Jose State.
McCarney, the winningest coach in ISU football history, was 56-85 in 11 seasons, taking the Cyclones to bowl games in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005. He was the Big 12 coach of the year in 2004 and guided ISU to its first ever top-10 ranking (No. 9) in 2002.
Tinsley was the Big 12 player of the year and a first-team all-American in 2001. He set school season records for assists (244) and steals (98) and was a part of back-to-back Big 12-championship teams in 2000 and 2001. Tinsley was the 27th pick in the NBA Draft and played 11 seasons.

Joining McCarney and Tinsley are gymnast Mark Diab, wrestlers Arthur Holding and Reg Wicks, women's basketball player Megan Taylor, runner Raf Wyns and softball player Erin (Woods) White, a former Solon coach.
