DE PERE, Wis. (AP) - Packers president and chief executive Mark Murphy says hosting a Super Bowl at Lambeau Field is very intriguing even though there's major issues with a potential bid.
NFL owners voted Tuesday to hold the title game in New York in 2014, bending the rule requiring cities to have an average temperature of 50 degrees or play in a dome.
Murphy says Wednesday depending on how the game goes in New York there may be other opportunities. He says hosting a Super Bowl in Green Bay is "very intriguing, but there are a lot of logistical requirements that need to be researched."
The Packers hosted and won the NFL Championship in Milwaukee in 1939 and in Green Bay in 1961, 1965 and 1967. The 1967 game is better known as the Ice Bowl with temperatures 13-below at kickoff.
