Editor's note: David Sojka and Dale Bieber of the Bicyclists of Iowa City agreed to send us daily reports from the Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa, which made a stop in Cedar Rapids on Thursday. The ride started Sunday and ends Saturday.
Here is David Sojka's report from Day 7:
9:19 a.m.: Started today at 7:30. Some good climbs coming out of Anamosa, Kobalt hill being the largest. The view from the top of this hill was very nice, as you could see for several mile. We zare 22 miles down, 47 to go. Currently on the hunt in Oxford Junction for poppy seed Kolaches.
3:45 p.m: Its over. The final 69 miles today, another flat ride. 489 total miles this week. The first few days this week were a challenge but still a very fun week. The weather improved thankfully later in the week. I am glad to be done but also a bit sad. I love this ride, the challenge the camaraderie
food, music. Your fellow riders pull you along. Time to dip the front tire in the Mississippi
