Coe scored on a 43-yard pass from Josh Rekers to Trevor Heitland with 1:03 remaining Saturday, then missed on a two-point conversion pass that would have tied the score in a 29-27 Iowa Conference loss at Dubuque.
Dubuque had taken a 29-21 lead with 1:57 left on a 33-yard field goal by Curtis Prull.
Coe (4-5, 3-3) won the yardage battle, 415-343 but turned the ball over four times, three of them on pass interceptions.
Rekers threw for 258 yards and four touchdowns to Heitland, Dominik Lensing, Nick Lenstra and Zach Doermann.
ILLINOIS COLLEGE 30, CORNELL 23
- Cornell dug itself a 30-10 hole early in the fourth quarter Saturday that was just too deep to get out of in a 30-23 Midwest Conference loss to South Division leader Illinois College at Jacksonville, Ill.
The Rams (5-3, 3-2) made it 30-17 on Daniel Brown's 7-yard run with 11:23 to play, then accounted for the final score with 42 seconds left on a 4-yard pass from Brown to Ben Knake.
Illinois College (7-2, 5-0) rolled up 594 yards of offense to Cornell's 437. Brown ran for 139 yards and threw for 167.
SIOUX FALLS 45, UPPER IOWA 21
- No. 17 Sioux Falls (9-1) raced to a 38-0 lead over Upper Iowa and coasted to a 45-21 Northern Sun victory Saturday at Sioux Falls.
A 5-yard pass from D. Giesking from Cole Jaeschke finally got Upper Iowa (6-4) on the board with 1:56 left in the third quarter. Jaeschke threw for 362 yards and three touchdowns, two them to Shay Gutman.
