Coe blasts Wartburg at home: Iowa small college men’s basketball roundup

Coe routed Wartburg, 74-51, in an Iowa Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Eby Fieldhouse in Cedar Rapids, improving to 10-6 overall and 4-1 in league play.
JT Vonderhaar made 11 of 11 free throws and topped Coe in scoring with 15 points. Matt Vonderhaar added 11 points.
Wartburg (10-6, 3-2) didn't have a scorer in double figures.
MOUNT MERCY 93, ST. AMBROSE 54
- James Boonstoppel made 8 of 9 3-point shots at Hennessey Rec Center in Cedar Rapids and scored 24 points in the Mustangs' Midwest Collegiate Conference victory.
Ben Struss added 12 points for No. 16 Mount Mercy (16-3, 4-0), Ian Matos 12 and Alex Houston 10.
CORNELL 116, GRINNELL 110
- Cornell shot 72.7 percent from the field, making 48 of 66 shots, in the high-scoring Midwest Conference game at Mount Vernon.
Grinnell, typically willing to cede easy 2-point basketball for 3-point tries on the other end, made 19 of 76 from distance for 25 percent.
Grant Anderson made 14 of 17 shots for the Rams (5-11, 4-7) and scored 29 points. Nick Bobb fashioned a double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Brad Hund added 17 points and Corey Davis 16.
Jack Taylor made 6 of 14 3-pointers and scored 37 points for Grinnell (7-8, 5-5).
LUTHER 62, SIMPSON 56
- Jake Martin score 14 points and Christian Wright and Bradley Wilkins added 10 apiece in the Iowa Conference victory at Indianola.
Luther (5-11, 1-4) trailed 31-17 at halftime, then scored 45-second-half points.
