This was a basketball decision. But not only a basketball decision.Iowa City High junior Haley Lorenzen confirmed Saturday that she has committed to play women's basketball at the University of Florida."I really like the people there, and it's a really good atmosphere," she said. "And I really like that they've got a great interior-design program, and that's what I want to major in."Lorenzen
announced her decision late Friday night on Twitter: "It's official! I'm gonna be a Gator!"A 6-foot-3 junior post from Iowa City High, Lorenzen averages 17.6 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. She is shooting 60.6 percent from the floor.Lorenzen is the daughter of former Cedar Rapids Kennedy standout Al Lorenzen, who played at the University of Iowa. She also has family in Florida, and that played a factor in her decision."This is a relief," she said. "This way, I can tap into what the Florida coaches want me to work on through the next couple years."A state qualifier last season, City High is 11-2 and ranked No. 7 in Class 5A.
