City High takes down Prairie

CEDAR RAPIDS - It was all about the hitters.
'We knew they would come out and swing,” City High Coach Craig Pitcher said Tuesday night after a 3-1 win over Cedar Rapids Prairie in a key Mississippi Valley Conference volleyball match.
Both teams came out swinging in the first game with the Little Hawks winning, 25-23.
'Precision was key for us,” Pitcher said. 'Alexa (Aldrich) was smart with her sets, made good choices, and played consistent all night.”
The second game had a big change with Prairie winning big, 25-19.
'After that second game Coach Pitcher said ‘We need to start stronger,'” Aldrich said.
A close third game that ended, 25-22, in favor of City High. The Little Hawks captured the fourth and deciding game, 25-16.
'We kept pushing all night,” Pitcher said.
It was back and forth through three games.
'They wanted it, too” Aldrich said, noting the win over Prairie will help in City High's goal of winning an MVC title. 'We knew they wanted to win.”
