Carter Kingsbury, a 6-foot-5, 220-pounder from Ponca, Neb. by way of Brewster (N.H.) Academy, announced Saturday that he is joining the Iowa men’s basketball program.
Kingsbury told Hawkfanatic.com’s Tyler Devine that he’ll be a preferred walk-on, eligible to play this season unless he takes a redshirt year.
Kingsbury is the son of Chris Kingsbury, who averaged 12.6 points per game over his three-year Iowa career from 1993-96. He owns Iowa’s single-season record for 3-point baskets with 117.
Carter Kingsbury had a post-graduate season at Brewster in 2020-21 after averaging 21.3 points as a senior for Ponca High School.
Chris Kingsbury, a McDonald’s All-American as a high school player, was Kenyon Murray’s teammate at Iowa. Murray’s sons, Keegan and Kris Murray, are sophomores-to-be on the Hawkeyes.
