Cedar Rapids retains Ryder Cup

CORALVILLE - Cedar Rapids captured eight of the 12 singles matches here Sunday to retain the title in the annual Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Ryder Cup tournament at Brown Deer Golf Course with a 15-9 victory.

The Cedar Rapids team held a 7-5 lead after Saturday's four-ball and alternate shot competition and maintained its hold on the Cup with solid play on Sunday.

Chris James, Matt Sargent, J.D. Schlotterback and Bob Kollmith were each 3-0 in their matches.

Cedar Rapids leads the series, 8-3-2.
