CRAG gymnasts shine at own meet
CEDAR RAPIDS - Megan Kiesey, Lexie Goldsmith, Autumn Poston and Sidney Davidson of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won four events each at CRAG's annual Jingle Bell Gymboree last weekend.
Kiesey won the bars, beam, floor exercise and all around in Level 3, Goldsmith the vault, beam, floor and all around and Poston in vault, beam, floor and all around in Level 4, and Davidson the bars, beam, floor and all around in Level 5.
Jaeden Humphries won three events (vault, bars, all round) in Level 4, and Kylie Henry (beam, floor) and Ava Andrews (bars, all around) captured two in Levels 4 and 5, respectively.
Other CRAG winners were Kennedy Ward and Asia Russell in Level 3; Addison Appelhans and Madilyn Tumilty in Level 4; and Maanasa Chinnakonda, Natalie Freeman and Hailey Hakes in Level 5.
At the Games in Ames last month, Kiesey won five events in Level 3 (vault, bars, beam, floor and all round). Anna Weaver (bars, floor, all around) and Goldsmith (beam, floor, all around) won three each in Level 4, Ward (bars, all around) and Hakes (vault, all around) were double winners in Levels 3 and 5, respectively.
Other CRAG winners in Ames were Russell and Mackenzie Avery in Level 3, Appelhans, Shea Johnson and Poston in Level 4, and Grace Walker in Level 5.
Twisters' Netz captures 4 golds
CEDAR RAPIDS - Evalee Netz of Twisters Gymnastics in Cedar Rapids won the bars, beam, floor exercise and all around in Level 3 at CRAG's Jingle Bell Gymboree last weekend.
Kelsey Klesner in Level 3 and Ava VanBerkum in Level 4 captured three events each, Klesner the beam, floor and all around and VanBerkum the bars, beam and all around. Elizabeth Tanner was a double winner in Level 5, taking the bars and all around.
Other Twisters winners were Ava Gunsolly and Loren Hungate in Level 3; Hallie Ruby: Alyssa Niemeier, Katelyn Mackey, Kylie Link and Payton Basquin in Level 4; and Victoria Barbieri, Lacey Neighbor, and Amera Nakurutimana in Level 5.
At the Flip for Food Invitational last month, Twisters' Amelia Berger, Sarah Nolting and Shandin Gilbert won three events each in Xcel Gold, Xcel Diamond and Level 3, respectively. Skyler Meyer in Xcel Diamond and Payton Basquin in Level 4 were double winners. Other winners were Avery Basquin, Larissa Cleveland and Eve Hansen were winners in Xcel Silver, Leah Crilley, Madison Marcus and Grace Schroeder in Xcel Gold, Anna Carter and Haley Chmelicek in Xcel Platinum, and Klesner, Kinley Claypool and Loren Hungate in Level 4.
Earlier last month, Neighbor and Tanner were triple winners in Level 4 at the Blackhawk Classic, and Haley Shepley (Level 4) and Nakurutimana (Level 5) were double winners. Other winners were Sydney Huber, Klesner, Kira Klesner, Shandin Gilbert and Hungate in Level 3; Niemeier and Basquin in Level 4; and Corrin Williams in Level 5.
11 from Moser win USTA titles
Eleven members of the Moser School of Dance and Gymnastic won titles at the USTA Power Tumbling meet in Rock Island, Ill., last month.
Annie Gulick, Madison Butterworth, Kaya Knipper, Cooper Ingles, Lily Schmitz, Amy Morris, Kristina Kammiller, Tyler Buesing, Emma Bockenstedt, Alexa Ries and Kyle Peck captured gold.
CRSA teams win 3 state titles
The Cedar River Soccer Association captured three titles recently at the Iowa State Cup Championships.
The U17 Boys won their championship, the U18 Girls their third and the U18 Boys their fourth. CRSA's U15 Boys and U16 Boys finished second, and the U16 Girls were third.
CRSA now has won 40 Iowa State Cup Championships since its inception.
Kids First's Bui win 5 titles
Ly Bui of Kids First Gymnastics won five events at the Flip for Food Invitational in Iowa City last month, capturing the vault, bars, beam, floor exercise and all around in Xcel Bronze.
The Xcel Bronze team won the team title.
Katherine Denner won the bars, floor and all around, and Ava McMenomy the beam, also in Xcel Bronze. Emma Schultze and Molly McMurrin were winners in Level 4, and Zoey DeCapria won the vault in Level 5.
Somersaults' Hawker wins 4 events
Isabel Hawker of the Somersaults Gymnastics Center won four events at the Flip for Food Invitational last month in Iowa City.
Competing in Xcel Silver, she won the vault, bars, beam and all around. Ava Christensen won the vault and bars and Hannah Brandt the bars, also in Xcel Silver, where Somersaults finished second.
In Xcel Gold, Bailey Davis, Alexus Jarchow and Logan Kalous all were winners.
The Level 4 team placed third at CRAG's Jingle Bell Gymboree, led by Laura Swart, Ashley Lappin, Lindsey Weig and Ellie Jones.
