C.R. Washington announces Brune as new baseball coach

Scott Brune has been named new head varsity baseball coach at Cedar Rapids Washington, the school announced Tuesday.

Brune has been an assistant coach and head sophomore coach at the school. He also has coaching experience at West Liberty.

A Dubuque Wahlert graduate, Brune played baseball at the University of Iowa. He is a teacher and head freshman boys' basketball coach at Washington.

Brune's hiring still needs approval by the Cedar Rapids Community School District.

'Coach Brune will provide stability and sound leadership for the Washington baseball program," Washington Athletics Director Paul James said. "He is a great fit and a coach the baseball players will play hard for and respect because of his knowledge and coaching style.'
