CEDAR RAPIDS — Former Cedar Rapids Xavier prep Mitch Keller has been selected to play in the Arizona Fall League's Fall Star Game.
The 12th edition of the game is Saturday at 7 p.m. at Scottsdale, Ariz., and will be telecast live by the MLB Network. The Arizona Fall League has been in existence since 1992 and was created by Major League Baseball as a sort of 'graduate school' for many of the top prospects in the game.
Keller, a right-handed pitcher, is ranked 18th overall by MLB.com in its latest prospect rankings. He is the Pittsburgh Pirates' No. 2 prospect.
Keller went 8-5 this season with a 3.03 earned run average in 23 starts made primarily at high-A and Double-A. The 21-year-old was Pittsburgh's second-round draft pick in 2014.
