Busswitz commits to UNI

CEDAR RAPIDS - When Kate Busswitz hits the UNI campus in the fall of 2016, it will be a family reunion.

Both blood and otherwise.

A sophomore at Prairie, Busswitz confirmed her commitment to the UNI volleyball team Wednesday afternoon.

'After thinking it through for awhile, I absolutely knew it was where I belonged,” said Busswitz, a 6-foot-1 middle hitter who made her decision official Monday.

'What I loved about UNI was the close family atmosphere I felt when walking on campus. The staff made me feel at home and welcomed me through everything.”

'A few of my Six Pack (club) teammates have also committed to UNI and I think that really played a role in my decision.

Kate's sister Meghan will enroll at Cedar Falls in the fall.

'Being with her in the future is also a plus,” said Busswitz, who picked UNI over Iowa State.

Busswitz averaged 2.10 kills and posted a .372 kill efficiency last season as the Hawks posted a 16-19 record.

Her 43 blocks led the team.
