MARION - For golfers trying to make their way onto the LPGA Tour, it may take only a single victory on the Symetra Tour to secure their LPGA card.
Sara "No-H" Brown, on the other hand, has a different plan: she's gunning for back-to-back wins.
Brown's first Symetra Tour win came last week at the My Marsh Golf Classic in Indiana. After an opening round 75, Brown fired back with scorching rounds of 67 and 69 that gave her the victory and a full head of steam going into this week's tournament at Hunters Ridge Golf Course, The Ladies Titan Tire Challenge.
"That first win was huge," Brown said. "It brought me closer to my goal and got me excited about the rest of the season."
A Michigan State graduate who has been playing professional golf for five years, Brown is trying to once again make the jump to the big leagues after spending the 2011 season on the LPGA Tour. She's a member of the Ladies European Tour, where she earned about 15,770 euros in 10 events last season.
She ranks fourth in Symetra Tour winnings this season and needs to stay in the top 10 to earn an LPGA card without having to go through qualifying school. Another victory this weekend would all but ensure her spot on the LPGA Tour next year.
"I just need to play good golf," she said. "I was here two years ago and I love this course. It's very similar to last week's at Indiana.
"I'm at the top of my game right now. I need to do what I do and go out there and have fun."
That yearning for fun on the course has won Brown quite a few fans in the world of women's golf.
She was a popular participant in the Golf Channel's popular reality show "Big Break" and has more than 11,000 followers on Twitter.
The first round of the Ladies Titan Tire Challenge begins Friday morning and concludes Sunday afternoon.
