Brady Ernst transferring from Iowa State

AMES — Iowa State men's basketball freshman Brady Ernst will transfer from the program.
The 6-foot-9 forward played in six games and averaged 0.3 points and 2.3 minutes before ending his season because of issues that stemmed from an ACL tear the Clinton native suffered in high school. Iowa State applied for a medical red-shirt on Ernst's behalf.
'We wish Brady the best in the future and appreciate his effort last season,' Prohm said in a release. 'He worked very hard for our program and I've enjoyed having the chance to coach him.'
Louisiana Tech graduate transfer Merrill Holden pledged his commitment to Iowa State during the weekend and after Hallice Cooke and Jordan Ashton made clear their intentions to transfer, Iowa State now has its allotted 13 scholarships filled for the upcoming season.
The only situation that is still in flux is that of junior college forward Emmanuel Malou, who is working through an eligibility issue with the NCAA. If Malou is declared ineligible and does not make it to Ames, the Cyclones will have an extra scholarship to use on a mid-year transfer or a transfer sitting out his red-shirt season.
