Bova won't return in 2014

CEDAR RAPIDS -- Katie Bova's tenure as softball coach at Kennedy High School will end after this season."I just felt that it was time for me to step down," said Bova, who has led the program the past six years, with a record of 66-153."Who knows what the future will hold? Maybe I'll coach again someday, but right now, it's the right time to step down and get out."Bova will continue to serve as a language arts instructor at Kennedy.The Cougars are 12-23 this season, including 7-17 in the Mississippi Valley Conference. They'll conclude regular-season play Monday at home against Waterloo East, then will face Iowa City West in a Class 5A regional quarterfinal June 11.Kennedy Athletics Director Aaron Stecker said Bova "has had a conversation with me and with the kids, and yeah, this is probably going to be it for her."
