As part of our many journeys covering sports, we encounter interesting, impromptu moments, whether it's in Iowa City or elsewhere. This week I'm throwing out a few random pictures and videos from the most recent college sports season. Here are a few:

A look at the Chicago skyline from an airplane en route to State College, Pa., on Feb. 14, 2014. The flight departed O'Hare Airport about five hours late (but I digress).
Apparently there is a Gopher Mafia, as this sweat shirt indicates, but it's rather unusual to find it in Champaign, Ill., hours before the Iowa-Illinois men's basketball game on Feb. 1, 2014.
Every chair in the Penn State student section at Bryce Jordan Center had this piece of paper placed upon it on Feb. 15, 2014. Apparently proofreading was optional as was borrowing a chant usually directed at Iowa from Minnesota students.
Athletes and parents from Iowa City West High School sweep up pom-poms and other garbage from Kinnick Stadium in the early-morning hours of Nov. 3, 2013. Athletes from Iowa City's public high schools are required to clean Kinnick Stadium at 7:30 a.m. every Sunday following an Iowa home game to raise money for the athletics departments.
Bags of red pom-poms were discarded on Nov. 3, 2013, the morning after the Iowa-Wisconsin football game. The pom-poms were distributed to give the stadium a patriotic feel, nine days before Veterans Day.
Cards, like this one, were placed on fans' seats at Carver-Hawkeye Arena before the Hawkeyes' Feb. 22, 2014 men's basketball game against Wisconsin. The game was televised by ESPN2, and on one side the cards had black and gold. On the other, it had red, white and blue.
Outside of Carver-Hawkeye Arena sits a very large handicapped parking lot. Two hours before tipoff, it is unoccupied.
