Lizzy Bailey had 15 points and three steals as Cedar Rapids Xavier beat Cedar Falls, 48-35, last night at Xavier. Morgan Breitbach finished the night with 11 points, six rebounds, and four steals for Xavier (2-1).
IOWA CITY HIGH 78, DUBUQUE SENIOR 54 - Ashley Joens scored a game-high 26 points to lead Iowa City High at home.
Sarah Plock added 13 points for the Little Hawks (2-1), and Kenya Earl added 11.
WESTERN DUBUQUE 60, MARION 49 - Rose Simon-Ressler drained three 3-pointers en route to a game-high 17 points to lead Western Dubuque at home.
Caitlyn Smith led Marion with 12 points, and Amanda Sahm added 10.
SPRINGVILLE 60, CEDAR VALLEY CHRISTIAN 43 - The Orioles had three players in double figures in a 'road” win in Springville. Sarah Matus led with 14 points, with Rachel Gloeckner adding 13 and Megan Wageman 12. Shelby Hembera had 24 points for CVC but fouled out.
IOWA CITY REGINA 59, WEST LIBERTY 26 - Mary Crompton scored a game-high 15 points for the Regals, and Cammy Verducci chipped in with 14, including four baskets from behind the arc. Tatum Koenig led West Liberty with nine points.
C.R. WASHINGTON 56, DUBUQUE WAHLERT 48 - Anne Visser paced the Warriors (1-0) with 14 points and seven rebounds and Courtney Squires also scored in double-digits with 13 with a home win.
The Prairie Hawks spread the scoring around as they beat Davenport West, 63-35, last night in a boys' season-opener in Davenport.
Coen Brown led Prairie with 10 points. Mitch Lorenz finished with nine points and two assists and Ethan Copeland and Cal Clark each contributed eight points.
Max Taylor led all scorers with 16 points for the Falcons, including five three-pointers.
SPRINGVILLE 63, CEDAR VALLEY CHRISTIAN 36 - Riley Cavanaugh scored 29 points to pace Springville in a road game in their own gym.
The Orioles led by 20 points by half, 36-16. Travis Geels had 13 points and Mike Scroggs had 12 rebounds to pace CVC, which is playing its home games at Springville this season.
WAUKEE 64, LINN-MAR 47 - Nic Uhlir and Jordan Bohannon scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, but it wasn't enough to overpower the combination of Waukee's Anthony Nelson (19 points) and Michael Jacobson (18) in Linn-Mar's opening game on the road.
CLINTON 66, C.R. JEFFERSON 40 - Derrick Howard led all scorers with 19 points to lead Clinton at Jefferson.
Brady Ernst added 14 points for the River Kings (1-0), and Daniel Stewart finished with 11.
Tyler Konigsmark scored a team-high 13 points to pace the offensive effort for Jefferson (0-1).
