[Baseball] Heumann, Weber pick up league honors

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa -- Mount Mercy junior outfielder Alex Heumann and senior right-hander Derrick Weber have been named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week for March 14.
Heumann went 4-for-9 at the plate while driving in five runs to lead the Mustangs to three wins in four games in a three-team series at Graceland over the weekend. Weber earned a complete-game victory over Graceland, allowing just one earned run on nine hits in Mount Mercy's 5-1 win on Sunday.
The Mustangs (6-7) open conference play this weekend with a three-game set at Grand View. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1:00 p.m., and Sunday's single, nine-inning contest starts at noon in Des Moines.
