SOLON 35, WESTERN DUBUQUE 14:
Jacob Black rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns and Jordan Wymer added 119 yards and also scored twice as Solon toppled Western Dubuque, 35-14, last night in a Class 3A prep football first-round playoff game in Solon.
Black scored first on a 38-yard keeper in the first quarter and added a 33-yard TD run in the second. He also completed 4 of 10 passes for 82 yards, including a 58-yard TD pass to Wymer. Wymer also scored on a 2-yard run.
Brandon Kramer led Solon (9-1) with 166 yards on 17 carries.
Dylan Gansen and Ben Burds scored for the Bobcats (4-6).

SPRINGVILLE 63, TRIPOLI 14:
Elias Nissen rushed for 247 yards, including 196 in the first half, as the Orioles (10-0) rolled to an easy eight-man win at home.
Springville scored on its first four possessions after three Tripoli fumbles and an interception.
Nissen scored on runs of 39 and 61 yards in the first half and Peter Brooks caught at 13-yard TD pass from Sam Scriver to put the Orioles up, 21-0, six minutes into the game. Brooks then returned an interception 20 yards for a TD and Scriver later scored on a 1-yard run.
Springville totaled 434 yards of offense, 381 on the ground.

MAQUOKETA VALLEY 38, WEST BRANCH 21:
Ryan Parmely rushed for 201 yards and scored three touchdowns, including two in the fourth quarter, as the Wildcats won a Class 1A opener at home.
Michael Gould put the Bears (6-4) up 7-0 early, but Maquoketa Valley (10-0) answered with 17 unanswered points to take a 17-7 halftime lead.
A pair of Lucas Lamont TDs put the Bears back up, 21-17, in the third. But after a fake punt in the fourth, Parmely rambled 75 yards to put the Wildcats back in front.
He scored again, on a 49-yard run, to put the game away.

— Bryce Pierce rushed for 116 yards and Jacob Leeps scored twice as the Vikings (10-0) began defense of their Class 3A state title with a win at home.
Pierce also completed 5 of 6 passes for 129 yards and three touchdowns, a 27-yarder to Holt Johansen, a 26-yarder to Bryton Meyer and a 51-yarder to Cole Svestka.
The Vikings had 424 total yards to Central's 237.

WAUKON 48, MONTICELLO 24 — Marcus Weymiller rushed for 187 yards and four touchdowns, all in the first half, as the Indians (9-1) rolled at home.
Weymiller scored on an 80-yard run on the first play from scrimmage as Waukon built a 48-0 halftime lead. The Indians had 462 yards in the first two quarters to the Panthers' 26.
Cody Jamison led the Monticello (6-4) attack in the second half and finished with 142 rushing yards and a TD. He also passed for another score.

BGM 83, VAN BUREN 6 — BGM's Jack Kline returned two punts (54 and 43 yards) for touchdowns to help lead the Bears (10-0) win in Brooklyn.
Kline now has nine punt returns for a touchdown this season, which is a national record.
DYERSVILLE BECKMAN 15, HAMPTON-DUMONT 14:
Mitch Steger's 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown with 7:30 left lifted the Trailblazers to a Class 2A win at home.
After the Bulldogs (6-4) drove 55 yards in six plays to take a 14-9 lead capped by Dylan Hanson's 11-yard TD run, Steger returned the ensuing kick with a crease up the middle and then broke it down the left sideline for the score.
The Trailblazers (8-2) trailed most of the game before Grant Hammann's 7-yard TD run tied it at 7 with 1:55 to play in the third quarter.
Linebacker Tony Anstoetter had a safety in the third quarter and the game-sealing interception in the final minute for Beckman.

HLV 60, GRANDVIEW PARK BAPTIST 0 — Dalton Kriegel rushed for 76 yards and three touchdowns and passed for another as the Warriors (9-2) won in Victor.
MAQUOKETA 19, CRESTWOOD 13 — A little trickery and a goal-line stand.
Not exactly the way Maquoketa envisioned the ending to its Class 3A playoff opener, but the Cardinals used the formula to beat Crestwood in overtime at home.
Maquoketa quarterback Trent Bollman caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Ben Strathman — after a direct snap to running back Cohl Kueter and a reverse pitch to Strathman — to give the Cardinals the lead in overtime.
Jebidiah Miller made a goal-line tackle on fourth-and-goal at the 1 to preserve the victory.
