CEDAR RAPIDS - You put two and two together, and Adam Sanchez hopes it adds up to four in this case."We'll see," he said Thursday night. "I've been through enough interviews to know you can't take anything for granted."The Grand View University assistant coach seems poised to become the new head boys' basketball coach at Cedar Rapids Washington. Sanchez has not been offered the job, he said, but admitted he interviewed Monday and has been asked to return to Washington with his wife, Abby, Friday to speak again with school administration.Sanchez is a Hudson native who has no head coaching experience. He played at Wartburg and was an assistant coach there for a year before going to Drake as a graduate assistant, where he served under both Tom and Keno Davis. He has been at Grand View for three seasons."The opportunity to become a head coach," Sanchez said, when asked what appeals to him about the Washington job. "I've been an assistant coach for seven years, and I have enjoyed it immensly, but I want to be a head coach. The second thing is to be able to be involved with a program with the tradition of Washington is a great opportunity."I'm from Hudson, my wife is from Williasmburg and we have three children. So it'd be great to get a little closer to home."Washington has been seeking a head coach since Brad Metzger resigned in late March. Mount Vernon head coach Ed Timm told Iowa Prep Sports last week that he interviewed for and was offered the job recently but turned it down.Washington Athletics Director Paul James said this week that he anticipated having a coach in place by the end of the week. Two and two appears to be adding to four.
