Albia's Leshen tops West Delaware's Voss in marquee opening-round match

In one of the marquee matchups in the opening round of the Iowa High School Athletic Association Class 2A state wrestling tournament, Albia's third-ranked Brett Leshen topped West Delaware's No. 2 Jake Voss, 5-3, at 160 pounds.Leshen opened with a takedown, but Voss answered with a reversal later in the first.The decisive move came at the end of the first. Leshen hit a switch off a restart and scored a reversal in the final 10 seconds, taking a 4-2 lead. The pair exchanged escapes in the final three periods.Leshen advances to face No. 4 Jacob Holschlag (45-1) in Friday's quarterfinal round. Leshen wasn't the only family member to win. Brothers Shadow Leshen, top-ranked at 126, and Bryce Leshen, No. 2 at 132, also advanced Thursday.
