A closer looks at girls sports in the Mississippi Valley Conference

Here are the final women's all-sports standings in both the Mississippi and Valley Divisions of the Mississippi Valley Conference for 2009-10.Iowa City West won the Mississippi Division by a wide margin, while Linn-Mar won the Valley title in a very close race.This was Iowa City West's 4th consecutive MVC Mississippi Division women's all-sports title. Linn-Mar dethroned Cedar Rapids Washington, who won the Valley title in 2008-09.West captured championships in volleyball, bowling, track, golf and softball and finished no lower than a tie for second in any of the 10 sports to win the Mississippi crown by 20 points over Dubuque Wahlert which edged Cedar Rapids Kennedy by a point for 2nd place. Wahlert won titles in bowling and tennis. Kennedy won championships in swimming and basketball. Iowa City High, which finished 4th, won the cross country crown. Cedar Rapids Xavier used a title in soccer to finish 5th ahead of Dubuque Hempstead and Waterloo West.In the Valley Division, Linn-Mar won championships in basketball and soccer and used three seconds and three thirds in other sports to capture the overall championship. Cedar Rapids Washington was 2nd winning championships in cross country and tennis. Third-place Cedar Falls won titles in swimming, track and golf. Cedar Rapids Jefferson captured bowling and softball to place 4th. Dubuque Senior and Cedar Rapids Prairie were 5th and 6th, respectively, without any sport titles.
