Stephen Berry of Vinton, a member of the Cedar Rapids USBC Hall of Fame and a new inductee into the Iowa State USBC Bowling Association, had a weekend to remember in June.
Bowling in the 700 Bowling Clubs of America National Tournament in DeKalb, Ill., Berry won four titles and placed seventh in doubles with partner, Bob Mumma.
He and Mumma finished with a score of 1,324, but that was just the start. He proceeded to hit it big while bowling in singles with a 792 series, capturing the regular division title as well as the senior division singles title.
But he wasn't done yet. He also captured the regular division all-events and senior all-events titles with a nine-game series of 2,209, which is an average of 245 per game.
With his induction into the Iowa State USBC Bowling Association Hall of Fame, Berry and his father, Carl became the first father-son team in the state Hall. They both also are in the Cedar Rapids USBC Hall of Fame. Carl was inducted in 1977, Stephen in 2012.
This performance showcases the talent of bowlers in the Cedar Rapids USBC Bowling Association and the state of Iowa.
