Sep. 26, 2011 8:20 pm
She may not have the mightiest of throws.
But 95- year- old Dorthy O'Meara has a sneaky spin that gets her exactly what she wants.
She first started bowling at the young age of 70.
O'Meara said, "I had a friend who wanted to go bowling so I just decided I'd like to go bowling. "
That's when she fell in love with the sport and found her hidden talent.
O'Meara said, "I bowled in the 500 club and you have to be in the 500 series to do that and I accomplished that."
In 2010 she became the oldest person to participate in a national bowling tournament and score well above her much younger peers.
O'Meara said, "it was a regular game but I just happened to bowl a 211 game. At my age nobody else did that. "
She says the the key to her success is staying active.
And never, ever giving up.
O'Meara says despite her success at the bowling alley, her greatest accomplishment is raising seven beautiful children.
Several of her children are now also her bowling buddies.
