CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids USBC Bowling Association Hall of Fame is set to induct four new members later this month.
Andy Staub, Tom Trcka Jr., Joy Schild and Lane Lafler will be inducted during a ceremony on Oct. 30.
This strong group of inductees all had success on and off the lanes.
Staub has a very impressive resume with more than 75 perfect games and more than 75 800 series. His high is 867. He is a PBA member and has bowled doubles events with Pete Weber while cashing in more than 20 PBA events. Staub has held an average of 230 or above for many years and has no sign of slowing down.
Trcka Jr. is the owner of May City Bowl and has been a great proprietor and bowler, as well. He has four 300 games, four 299 games and two 800 series with a high of 809. Trcka Jr. has worked hard to be the go-to center for tournaments and May City has been Mount Mercy University's home lanes for the past seven years. Trcka Jr. has held a high average of 219.
Schild works endlessly promoting the game of bowling on many different levels, including youth and adult. She also has had success on the lanes. Schild travels to bowl in as many tournaments as she can and has had many games over 250, as well as numerous 600s. She has held a high average of 183.
Lafler has been a huge promoter of the game and has written 12 articles for The Gazette (counting this one) and has coached for more than 30 years. He also has experienced success on the lanes, with one 300 game, two 299 games and one 800 series (810). He has held a high average of 218.
The CRUSBCBA Hall of Fame induction and dinner will be held at the Marion American Legion. It will start 3:30 p.m. with a social gathering with dinner at 4 p.m. The induction ceremony is expected to take place around 5:15. The cost per meal is estimated to be $14 per person and tickets can be purchased from any hall of fame committee member.
The committee consists of Kim Grady, Danny Jensen, Sue Strasburger, John Sires, Andrea Ard, Jim Wheeler, Bob Mumma, Jackie Mundorf, Michael Jordan, Cindi Tippett, Schild and Lafler.
