3 state men’s teams in rankings for first time
IOWA CITY - The Associated Press ranked three Iowa men's basketball teams for the first time in poll history, according to Associated Press writer Luke Meredith.
Iowa State (13-3) moved up to ninth from 11th after dispatching Kansas at home Saturday night. Northern Iowa (16-2) ranked 20th, up three spots from last week. Iowa (13-5) made its Associated Press rankings debut at No. 25.
Iowa is the only state with three ranked men's basketball programs.
In the USA Today/Coaches rankings, Iowa State is 12th and Northern Iowa is 19th. Iowa is receiving votes.
