BELLE PLAINE (24-1) vs. EARLHAM (23-2)
- What: Class 1A Quarterfinal
- When, Where: 12:15 p.m., Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines
- Scouting Report: This is the first state tournament appearance for both schools. They each won their conference, Belle Plaine the South Iowa Cedar League for the first time in 39 years ... Belle Plaine's offense revolves around four players. Center Justin Jacobi averages 15.4 points per game, followed closely by forward Trey Squiers (15.4). Sophomore guard Brant DeMeulenaere averages 14.2 points per game and is a 44-percent 3-point shooter. Guard Josh Ehlen averages 10.6 points ... Earlham's leading scorer is 6-4 junior Canyon Hopkins (16.9 ppg). He missed four games with injury. In fact, one of Earlham's two losses came with him out of the lineup (against Des Moines Christian). Guard Alan Schmidt averages 15.7 points, and is the team's leading 3-point shooter.
