Easton Valley has lost to Northeast Goose Lake (51-48) and Forreston, Ill. (71-55) ... Keota's offense is dominated by guards Kolton Greiner and Luke Lyle, who each average 19 points per game. Despite being just 6-foot-2, Lyle averages 10.6 rebounds a game. Center Nate Owen, the only junior starter, chips in with 10.8 points a game. The Eagles won the South Iowa Cedar League ... Easton Valley has the 1A field's second-leading scorer in senior guard Chase Zaruba, who lights it up to the tune of 23.6 points per game. Keota will have to find a way to defend 6-8 senior center Logan Wilhelm, who averages a near double-double of 16.3 points and 9.6 rebounds ... This is the first state tournament trip for Easton Valley, which is a consolidation of Preston and East Central. Keota has made one prior state tournament, winning the 1A championship in 1989.
Coach's Comment:"We have had such great success here over the years. We've had some awesome kids. To see them finally get to Des Moines and see their hard work pay off is great. The greatest thing I heard after we won our substate final (over Van Buren) was a little boy say 'I want to do this when I get older.'" --

CASCADE (21-3) vs. SOUTH HAMILTON (21-3)
What: Class 2A Quarterfinal
When: 8:15 p.m.
Where: Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines
Scouting Report:South Hamilton is 2A's No. 4 seed, Cascade No. 5. Cascade has losses to Dyersville Beckman, Anamosa and Camanche. South Hamilton was beaten by Prairie City-Monroe, Fort Dodge St. Edmond and North Polk ... An interesting matchup between Cascade's traditionally strong 2-3 zone defense and South Hamilton's strong perimeter shooting. 41 percent of South Hamilton's field-goal attempts have come from 3-point range, the vast majority of them taken by leading scorers Collin Hill (16.8 ppg), Matt Hislop (14.0) and Trevor Ullestad (13.5). Hill is just a freshman ... Cascade prefers a slower tempo, evidenced by its defensive average of 39.4 points, tops in the 2A field. Offensively, the Cougars have been led by guard Haris Takes (18.1 ppg) and sophomore center Devin Green (13.9) ... This is the sixth state tourney appearance for Cascade. Coach Al Marshall is in his 45th season at the school and has 693 career victories. South Hamilton is at state for the first time since 1991 and for the sixth time overall.
Coach's Comment:"Always special. Never gets old. It's a great feeling, great feeling for the kids to get to state. We have good players. Sometimes the simple answer is the correct answer. We have a good team because we have good players." --
