Hey Iowans, do want big savings on your energy bills?

Do you know DNV? Many of you likely don’t, but it's a company that has been a part of Iowa for a long time. So, it’s high time for a proper introduction.

DNV has helped utilities operating in Iowa launch successful energy efficiency programs that have resulted in $6.6 million in savings for Iowans and Iowa businesses, and DNV has also worked with developers to ensure the safe design, construction, and operation of three large wind farms in Iowa.

Of course, Iowan’s have a lot to be proud of when it comes to wind. According to the US Energy Information Administration, wind turbines generated 62% of Iowa's electricity in 2022, the highest wind power share for any state. We’re honored to be playing our part.

Now DNV is ready to bring our knowledge and expertise of the state’s entire energy system to help Iowans realize even bigger savings and access more clean energy.

With a team based in Des Moines, DNV is well poised to help Iowa’s State Energy Office maximise the hundreds of millions of dollars available to Iowa through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) for energy efficiency programs.

These programs can be challenging to implement and evaluate, but DNV’s experience in designing and administering two current Iowa programs, which delivered more than 27 million kilowatt-hours in lighting savings and 17 million kilowatt-hours in savings for HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems, can be key to unlocking the state’s full potential.

These two projects led to Iowans making mammoth savings, based on the national average electricity rate.

“The IRA represents a truly transformational opportunity for Iowans,” says Pamela Padget, Head of Section for Energy Services Iowa at DNV.

“We want to be the trusted friend, partner, and sage that the State Energy Office can confidently rely on to implement and evaluate energy efficiency programs.”

Padget added, “We want to see winning programs implemented because this is our home, and we know what matters to the people who live here.”

With DNV as a partner, the State Energy Office will have access to DNV’s proven and secure technology platform that is designed to get energy efficiency programs up fast and cheap, and ultimately make it easy as possible for Iowans to start benefitting. DNV’s energy efficiency experts, based in Iowa and across the country, are ready to step up to help the state energy office allocate IRA funds in a way that supports all Iowans, from the rural farming communities to the big cities today and into the future.

“It all comes down to trust,” says Padget. “Funds from the IRA could have a huge impact on Iowans and that means the funds being used effectively to implement and evaluate energy programs that bring meaningful, long-lasting benefits.

The opportunity right now is for Iowa to build a future proof, resilient and clean energy system that brings down bills for all Iowans and protects our planet for future generations.
