CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- A penalty kick by Sydney Screws in the 35th minute was the only score of the game as intra-city rival Coe held off Mount Mercy, 1-0, in non-conference women's soccer on Wednesday at Kingston Stadium.
The Mustangs outshot the Kohawks (3-3-2), 13-5, and put four shots on goal compared to just two for Coe. Sophomore keeper Jerica Christensen saved one of those shots, while Coe's Jillian Reynolds made four saves.
Mount Mercy (3-6-0, 1-0-0 MCC) is on the road in Midwest Collegiate Conference play this weekend, heading to Clinton to face Ashford (4-3-1, 1-0-0 MCC) on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
