CEDAR RAPIDS - The Xavier girls' soccer team is preparing for another season with eyes on a state title.
Last year's team had a successful season but was stopped short, losing to North Scott in the state semifinals. Though the 2014 season did not end how the Saints wanted, the girls are planning to work harder this upcoming season.
'It didn't really end how we hoped but it was a great year,” senior manager Mikayla Sherman said. 'We are hungry for that state title this year.”
The Saints ended last year with a 14-15 record.
'We played well all throughout the season and I am excited to see how they do this year,” Emiko Coffey said.
The Saints open the season today at the jamboree, playing Regina. Their first full game is April 14 at Dubuque Hempstead.
