In its fifth boys’ state soccer tournament trip, Cedar Rapids Prairie earned its first win. The Hawks prevailed in a shootout to upset No. 2-seed Johnston in the Class 3A quarterfinals.

Alex Ruba got SweeTarts and a spot in the boys’ state soccer semifinals with an overtime golden goal that gave Gilbert a 1-0 Class 2A quarterfinal win over Marion.

Jahsiah Galvan scored the golden goal with a 91st-minute penalty kick, sending West Liberty past Nevada, 3-2, and to the boys’ state soccer semifinals for the third-straight season.

Powered by a determined senior class, Dyersville Beckman’s boys’ state soccer team returned to the state tournament for the first time since 2017. The Trailblazers are moving on to the Class 1A semifinals after a 2-1 win over West Central Valley.
