CEDAR RAPIDS - Imagine three varsity sports with only one off season. Imagine earning two rings along the journey.
That is the life of sophomore Jenny Dickes.
Dickes competes in cross country, basketball and soccer. She helped the basketball and soccer teams to state championships.
She hops from one sport to another while balancing her social life, academics and, obviously, her athletics.
Dickes starts the year with cross country. This year, the Saints went to state and placed 12th out of 15 team. Dickes finished 15th individuallly.
Quickly transitioning into basketball, she is one of the first players off the bench. The soccer season will start in the spring.
"I was scared to race against this one girl, Jenny Dickes, because she has really good times in all of her races," sophomore Allyson Smitt of Cedar Rapids Prairie High School said.
Dickes is known for her hard work on and off the court, field and course. She was ranked in the top 10 in her class in academics. She took honors classes and sophomore level classes as a freshman.
"She is a very good leader and always strives to do her best for the team," Xavier sophomore Brylee Bastian said. "She is very understanding and a great team player. She is a stud at everything she does and is an all around great person."
Dickes also manages relationships with her peers, teammates and family.
"She is always there for me and gives great advice," Xavier sophomore Kaitlyn Albert said. "She works hard and always puts forth her best effort on and off the court."
