Russikoff earns Iowa Conference tennis honor

Cornell sophomore Garrett Russikoff has been named Iowa Conference Men's Tennis Performer of the Week for the period ending April 3.

Russikoff went undefeated in leading the Rams to dual wins over Purchase-SUNY (7-2) and Oberlin (7-2) over Spring Break March 29 in Orlando, Fla.

Russikoff recorded two straight-set wins at No. 2 singles, beating Purchase-SUNY's Roger King (6-1, 6-0) and Oberlin's Charlie Marks (7-5, 7-5). Russikoff and freshman Joseph Reyes finished 2-0 at No. 3 doubles with an 8-1 victory over Purchase-SUNY and an 8-4 triumph over Oberlin.

Russikoff raised his season record to 11-8 in singles competition. He is 10-8 overall in doubles.

The Rams (10-8 overall, 4-1 IIAC) return to the court Saturday with a double dual in Decorah. Cornell plays UW-Eau Claire at 12 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. dual with IIAC foe Luther.
