Cornell landed a pair of honorable mention all-Iowa Conference soccer performers for the 2011 season in senior men's midfielder Julian Peota and senior women's forward Rachel Wynn.
Peota started all 18 matches this fall and tied for the team lead in scoring with seven points. He accounted for three goals and one assist while attempting a team-high 27 shots.
All three of Peota's goals came during conference play in the final month of the season. He was one of two seniors on head coach Andres Leza's squad (1-17). Peota, a four-year letterwinner, finished his playing career with 18 points (7 goals, 4 assists) in 68 matches.
Wynn, also a four-year letterwinner, started all 19 matches for the Rams (5-14) under first-year head coach Kirsten Russell. She finished second on the team with eight points, including a team-best two assists. Wynn knocked in three goals - two of which went for match-winners - on 24 total shot attempts.
Wynn was named the IIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Oct. 17, two days after scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory at league rival Coe. She played in 70 matches over her career, recording 26 points on nine goals and eight assists. Wynn finished with four career match-winning goals.
The IIAC named Luther goalkeeper Steve O'Meara the Men's Most Valuable Player, and Luther's Chris Garcia-Prats the Men's Coach of the Year.
On the women's side, Wartburg forward Katy Wendt was voted Most Valuable Player. Loras' Dan Rothert was named Coach of the Year.
