Cornell College's men's and women's cross country teams have both earned all-academic status for the 2010 season by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Rams also had two men's runners recognized as USTFCCCA Division III Cross Country All-Academic honorees in senior Kirkwood Donavin (Salt Lake City, Utah/West) and junior Chase Nowak (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain).
Cornell was one of 167 Division III women's programs to garner the all-academic award. Head coach Dan Schofer's women's squad compiled a 3.48 cumulative grade point average, ranking third among the seven Iowa Conference schools cited.
The Cornell men's team had a 3.16 GPA, joining Luther and Wartburg as IIAC representatives.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or better and compiled a score (finished at least five runners) at their respective NCAA regional championship.
The Cornell men posted a program-best sixth-place finish at the Central Region Championships last fall. The women finished 11th out of 27 teams.
Donavin (12th) and Nowak (15th) both earned all-region status at the regional meet last fall. Nowak was recognized as a USTFCCCA All-Academic recipient for the second consecutive year. To be named to the all-academic list, a runner must carry a 3.3 GPA and finish in the top 35 at their respective NCAA regional meet.
