[Men's Cross Country] Mustangs post fastest team times ever; Miroux gets second league honor

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Senior Mike Miroux led the way as the Mount Mercy men's cross country squad posted the fastest team times in school history at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge on Saturday in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Miroux finished 86th in a field of 328 runners with a time of 26:42 in the 8K race. He was named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for his efforts. It's the second such honor for Miroux this fall.
Mount Mercy had three runners finish under 27 minutes and two more just over 27 minutes. Junior Patrick Kipkorir wasn't far behind Miroux, coming in 92nd in 26:54. Junior Keith Terry finished 101st in 26:59, sophomore TJ Mosbach 114th in 27:13 and junior Bryant Rader 127th in 27:23.
Sophomore Mitch Johnson placed 152nd in 27:50, freshman Tyler Hartley 204th in 28:55, sophomore David Carbajal 211th in 28:59 and junior Kyle Miroux 229th in 29:25. The Mustangs were 15th in a tough, 33-team field.
Mount Mercy will attempt to defend its conference title at the 2011 MCC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 11:00 a.m. at the Dubuque Soccer Complex in Dubuque.
