Kirkwood women make it 15 straight

CEDAR RAPIDS -- Kirkwood turned back Ellsworth, 71-49, Wednesday night at Johnson Hall in Cedar Rapids for its 15th straight victory, pulling away with a 16-0 run in the second half after Ellsworth had closed to within a point.
The Eagles (17-2, 7-0 ICCAC) got 15 points from Teasha Harris and 11 apiece from Bianca Dugelmeier and Kate Hartman.
Former Cedar Rapids Jefferson player Britteny Steffeny grabbed nine rebounds for Ellsworth (14-6, 3-3).
The sixth-ranked Eagles, who knocked off third-ranked Iowa Central last week, travel to Marshalltown for a conference game Saturday.
COE 64, CENTRAL 50 - Kayla Waskow recorded a double-double for the Kohawks with 16 points and 12 rebounds in an Iowa Conference game at Eby Fieldhouse in Cedar Rapids.
Hannah Breitbach added 10 points for Coe (14-5, 8-2).
Coe blocked an astounding 15 shots, including six by Waskow, four by Megan Hayes and three by Breitbach.
LORAS 55, LUTHER 41 - Loras got much of the separation it needed in the first half of an Iowa Conference game at Decorah, leading 27-18 at the break.
Rachel Stenhaug scored 11 points for Luther (5-14, 2-8) on 4-of-8 shooting.
Melissa Hermann and Kelly Rogowski matched that scoring total for Loras (12-7, 7-3).
MEN'S ROUNDUP
Matt Tiby posted a double-double and Mike Weber scored 20 points last night in Kirkwood's 79-64 victory over Ellsworth in an ICCAC men's basketball game at Johnson Hall in Cedar Rapids.
Weber made 4 of 6 3-point shots for the Eagles, and Tiby had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Preston Brunz added 13 points, Kasey Semler 10.
COE 57, CENTRAL 50 - Coe improved to 7-3 in the Iowa Conference with the victory at Eby Fieldhouse in Cedar Rapids.
Garrett Cross was the lone Kohawk in double-figure scoring with 11 points, but nine players scored in a balanced effort.
LUTHER 71, LORAS 47 - Luther trailed by a point at halftime in an Iowa Conference game at Decorah, then roared to a 41-16 advantage in the second 20 minutes.
Tyler Wedemeier scored 16 points for the Norse (15-3, 9-1), Zach Matos 13 and Dane Larson 12. Wedemeier added 14 rebounds for a double-double.
