[Cross Country] Miroux races to MCC weekly honor

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa -- Senior Mike Miroux, who led Mount Mercy to a runner-up finish at the Iowa Intercollegiate Meet on Saturday, has been named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Sept. 19.
Miroux ran the 8K race in 27:44 to finish ninth out of 75 competitors at the Iowa State Course in Ames. Juniors Keith Terry (27:47) and Bryant Rader (27:48) finished 10th and 11th for the Mustangs. Sophomore TJ Mosbach placed 12th in 28:05, sophomore Andre Moodie (29:22) was 24th, freshman Tyler Hartley (29:33) was 26th and sophomore Mitch Johnson (29:48) finished 29th.
Iowa State won the team title with 15 points. The Mustangs were second with 66 points, followed by Iowa Western C.C. with 74 points, Buena Vista with 109, William Penn with 144 and Iowa Lakes C.C. with 150.
On the women's side, sophomore Anne Bruno and senior Kara Danielsen were top-10 finishers for Mount Mercy. Bruno was eighth in the 5K with a time of 20:29. Danielsen finished ninth in 20:48. Junior Stephanie Nibaur came in 12th in 21:00, sophomore Mackenzie Holladay 13th in 21:10. Senior Britney Yotter finished 14th in 21:18, junior Taylor Helms 16th in 21:25 and sophomore Wendi Dunn 17th in 21:27.
The women's team title was also claimed by Iowa State, who finished with 15 points. Mount Mercy was runner-up with 56 points. Des Moines C.C. was third with 84 points, Iowa Western C.C. fourth with 99.
The Mustangs race at the Clarke Invitational on Friday at 4:00 p.m. at the Dubuque Soccer Complex in Dubuque.
